Saturday, July 21 - Jake's Birthday in Chicago

So this year for our birthdays, we went to the windy city of Chicago. This was the view down the river Friday night when we got to town.

The next day was Jake birthday so we started out exploring the city. First we went to Millennium park - it was a beautiful day.
Fountains downtown just outside Millennium park -there are screens on the insides of the fountains and at night they turn colors....

Then we went to the Art Institute of Chicago. Self portrait of Van Gough - which for those of you that have been to the Dam Brewery - this is were we get the "I'd give my left ear for a Dam Beer" idea for our tshirts:

Famous "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" by Georges Seurat
One of my favorite Monet's : "Water Lilies" - I have a poster of this painting that used to hang in my bedroom back in Duluth
A view of the Sears Tower from the street - we took the elevator to the SkyDeck up 103 floors.
South view from the top of the Sears Tower

After dinner, we went to the Kingston Mines Blues Bar to see some live blues and let Jake remember his 21st birthday at this same place 17 years ago... And it turned my birthday at midnight

Me, the Chef and the Brewer!

I talk about these guys all the time. Just thought you'd want to meet Chef Doug (on the left) and Matt, our brewmaster at the Dam (on the right). This is from the Brewmaster's Dinner on June 16th. It was a blast!

Summertime fun!

Here are some pictures from the past couple weeks. It's been incredibly warm here in the mountains. We have been using our pool alot or heading to a lake.

We met our buddy Mike Scully in Denver for dinner - Good to see you Scully!

Turquoise Lake, Leadville, CO - Lots of great campsites around this reservoir.

Baxter loved the lake - it was so hot, he kept going in and out....
